Judge Alison Raeside oversaw care proceedings for Sara Sharif from Sara’s birth, making her the subject of a child protection plan when she was only six days old.
Throughout Sara’s short life, Raeside, a senior family court judge, played a fundamental role, handling the majority of her care hearings, including the decision to give custody to her father — the man who would murder her.
Raeside could not be identified after an unprecedented restriction was imposed by a High Court judge when Sara’s father and stepmother were convicted of her murder last month. Now after an appeal by the press, including The Times, she has been named.
