Man found guilty of threatening family court judge in Monongalia County on Facebook

MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV) – A man was found guilty of threatening to take revenge against a family court judge in Monongalia County Friday.

Emmanuel Jones, of Morgantown, made a series of threatening Facebook posts between December 19-22, 2022, following a family court hearing, according to the Monongalia County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

In the posts, Jones threatened to take revenge against the family court judge and attached a screenshot of an article that included a picture of John Allen Muhammad, also known as the D.C. Sniper, with the title ‘Black Sniper is Convicted of Murder.’

Jones now faces a sentence of one to 10 years in a state correctional facility and a fine of up to $2,000, officials said.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Rob Zak said he commends the bravery of the witnesses who saw the threatening Facebook posts and reached out to law enforcement out of concern for the safety of the family court and the community.
